STORIES

Exercise. 20 years of practice.
With team stam and Frrr I created Space(s) for Life*.

When selecting the images from finished projects, I detected some life themes or activities being explicited. Categorizing these themes in this order, showed me a multitude of spirits or atmospheres throughout each theme. It's much more interesting to scroll through this overview than to look at them project per project, I believe. It shows that my attitude leaves room at the clients personality and taste in the designing proces. But remarkably, I can still see my guiding  hand in all expressions.

Face.

Fronts. Facades, or... 'How do I look?'

Architecture mediates between the inside/private and the outside/public through its form, its material expression and its windows. How is expression and contact designed?

Connect.

Stairs and their -cases catch the light from above.

Stairs used to be positioned away from the inhabitable spaces into the hall. In open plan it connects functions directly and sprinkles not only activity but also the light!

Pure.

Anti-fragile* and open to appropriation.

With extra care the structural elements become finished surfaces. Open to supplement with personal layers of inhabitation and free of maintenance, this type of building seems timeless.

Stay.

Show me your home and I'll tell you who you are.

The dressing up of a designed space allows for personal appropriation. The tactile decoration reflects who we are and how we want to be.

Look.

A lot of movement. Nice to look out meanwhile.

In the open plan movement occurs through connected functional spaces. When providing well positioned views the outside is pulled in to

muse about the far and the beyond...

Grow.

Space for everyday rythms in every stage of life.

Arranging and rearranging in time are stimulated in architecture as infrastructure. We can live our developping lives in these flexible canvasses.

Cook.

Warmth and smell fill the space. Place to be.

From the central chimney and service area, the kitchen has become a central place in our habitat. As a high-tech cooking lab, our senses are adressed. 'You will always find me in the kitchen at parties!'

Sense.

After intens dialogue process. Many personal outcomes.

Taste is not discussable they say. By accepting that, clients' personal preferences for materials and colors can be harmonized with the design.

WOONVERHALEN

Geoefend.

Andersplannen is mensenmaatwerk.
